A fun to assemble 1/25 scale hobby kit.
This model kit was originally introduced in 1965 as part of the AMT Customizing Series model car kits and designed by the AMT design team of Bill Cushenbury, George Barris, the Alexander Brothers, Dean Jefferies and Gene Winfield.
You get a great representation of the 1965 Chevrolet 327 cu in engine in stock configuration. The engine block have a right and left hand side engine/transmission with a separate oil pan. You get the intake manifold, distributor, oil filler pipe, carburetor, cylinder heads, valve covers, exhaust headers, fan belt / pulleys / alternator, front timing chain cover, fan and air cleaner as separate pieces.
Radiator support wall is molded into the body and the radiator glues onto the wall. Firewall, water reservoir and battery are also included under the hood.
The custom version of this engine replaces the factory intake manifold with a special dual carburetor set-up with chrome air cleaners and a finned front timing chain cover. The drag racing 327 cu in engine replaces the stock manifold with the 6-71 blower intake manifold, 3-piece blower body, 2-piece blower scoop, fuel injector pump, custom exhaust headers, chrome front engine cover, and blower belt assembly as separate pieces.
The chassis and running gear of the AMT 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Station Wagon Model Kit consist of a one piece chassis pan with all the running gear and exhaust pipes molded in place. You have a choice of two wheel types, stock hubcaps or American Racing Mags. There are three sets of tires : the old Firestone skinnies, Goodrich Radial T/A and Goodyear racing slicks. You also get a pair of spare racing slicks and steel wheels to mount them on. These are the drag racing tires for the pit crew wagon. Axle blocks are molded onto the chassis with two sets of holes allows you to have a stock ride height or build a lowrider.
The interior is a bucket mixed with individual parts. For example, the floor pan, rear side panels and bench seat are molded as a unit. Steering column with wheel, dash board, bench seat and chrome floor shifter with a rear filler pan make up the stock interior. Custom interior features a Sun tachometer. The race version includes a shoulder harness.
There is also a one piece glass for windshield and rear window and quad headlights.
For the body AMT gives you a removable hood.
The stock version includes a front grille/bumper with separate headlights, transparent red tail lights, tailgate trim insert, and rear bumper.
The service crew wagon adds a 2-piece flasher dome light, dual spare drag slicks which attach to a roof rack, and a wooden push bar with chrome inserts which mounts to the front bumper.
For the custom version, there is a replacement chrome grille, front roll pan, pair of bumperettes, chrome quad headlight rings and clear lenses and the optional "Micro-lights". Out back, the custom replaces the stock bumper with a club plaque, rear rolled pan and twin bumperettes. Surf boards, roof racks and tiki decals are also included.
Finally the drag racing version gives you a hood scoop for the hood.
The rest of the parts on the 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Station Wagon model car are all pretty much chrome and glass.
Expect a lot of non-plated chrome moldings on this car and expect to use either the kit supplied chrome panels and Bare Metal Foil to finish the rest. I know it's a lot of work, but the finished result will be worth it!
